Whether you're scouting Phase 3 candidates for partnership or identifying innovative early-stage biotech startups, BiopharmIQ’s clinical trial filters help you zero in on the right companies—faster.

This step-by-step guide walks you through how to:

  • Filter companies based on their most advanced active clinical trial stage

  • Build a custom list from those results

  • Export your filtered company list for use in downstream workflows like BD outreach, market mapping, or investment targeting

Let’s jump in. 🚀

🎯 Get a Head Start:

We used our BiopharmIQ online platform to identify 450+ biopharma companies with one or more active Phase 3 clinical trials.

-- Pro Tip: You can follow along using either a free or premium account on BiopharmIQ.

🔍 Step 1:

Navigate to the Company Screener and Access Advanced Filters

  1. Once logged in, head to the Company Screener—you’ll find this in the top left of your dashboard.

  2. Click on Advanced Filters to **unlock a wide range of filtering options. You’ll see filters for location, therapeutic area, company size, modality, and more.

  3. Scroll until you find:

👉 Most Advanced Active Clinical Trial Stage

This powerful filter lets you identify companies based on the highest clinical trial stage in which they currently have an active study.

**Note: for free users, some fields will not be available, you can use the below links to filter by furthest active clinical stage:

🧬 Step 2:

Filter by Clinical Trial Stage (e.g., Phase 3)

Let’s say you're only interested in companies that currently have a Phase 3 trial running, and that’s the most advanced trial stage they’ve reached.

Here’s how:

  1. In the Most Advanced Active Clinical Trial Stage dropdown, select Phase 3

  2. Click Search

The results will instantly update. In the video example, the search returned 480 companies—note that this number will change dynamically as trial data gets updated.

🔁 Pro Tip: Combine this with other filters like modality, company size, or region to laser-target the segments that matter most to your business.

📁 Step 3:

Save Your Filtered Companies to a Custom List

Once you’ve filtered your company list by clinical stage (and other criteria, if needed), it’s time to save that list for later use.

  1. Click on “Save All Companies to New List” at the top of the results.

  2. Give your list a descriptive name (e.g., Phase 3 – Oncology Candidates – April 2025)

  3. Click Save

You’ve now created a reusable list that can be:

  • Revisited at any time

  • Used for further contact filtering

  • Downloaded for sharing or CRM integration

📥 Step 4:

Download the Company List (Premium Users)

To export your list, go to your Saved Lists, select the list you just created, and hit Download.

  • The export will include company names and metadata

  • Each company download consumes 1 credit

  • Credit usage and balance are displayed at the bottom of your dashboard

📌 Note for Premium Users: If you're short on credits and need a one-time export, you can email the BiopharmIQ team for support.
